In 1616, the name "Haverstroo" made its first known appearance on a Dutch map. In 2016, the Historical Society of Rockland County presented "400 Years of Haverstraw," a self-guided Historic Homes & Landmarks Tour that highlighted the town's rich and vibrant history.
