The Historical Society's History Center is open for administrative business Wednesdays–Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., year-round.
If you have a research interest, you must contact our Senior Historian (historian@rocklandhistory.org) in advance to schedule an appointment.
The History Center galleries are currently
open to the public on Wednesdays-Fridays and Sundays, 12-4 pm,
as we feature the
48th Annual Holiday Exhibition, "Holidays on the Home Front: Rockland County in World War II."
The circa 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House, decorated for the winter holiday season, is open for docent-guided tours on Sunday afternoons in January and February. Admission is $5 per person, and tours start PROMPTLY at 1, 2 & 3 pm.

From Manhattan or Long Island: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge; stay to the right and take the Palisades Parkway north to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street. At 1.5 miles, you will come to a three-way intersection with a stop sign. The Historical Society's parking lot is the first right after proceeding straight ahead at the stop sign.
From Westchester: Take the Tappan Zee Bridge to the New York State Thruway. Leave the Thruway at Exit 13N (Palisades Parkway). Take the parkway to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street. The Historical Society of Rockland Country
The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. Its headquarters are a four-acre site featuring a history museum and the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House in New City, New York.
