Part-Time Bookkeeper
The Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC) seeks a flexible Part-Time Bookkeeper to work 4-6 hours per week at our History Center facility in New City, NY. This is a perfect position for someone looking to return to the workforce or to earn supplementary income. Thorough proficiency with Quickbooks software is required, with Quickbooks Desktop Pro experience preferred.
The ideal candidate will be a well-organized self-starter who is comfortable coming into the office and working with staff and volunteers. Specific responsibilities include
An associate’s degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred, along with 2-3 years work experience in a related field (nonprofit experience preferred) and strong organizational and analytical skills. The candidate must be able to commute to the HSRC office.
The HSRC, founded in 1965, is dedicated to engaging diverse audiences in a dynamic dialogue about the rich historical heritage of our county. To fulfill this mission, the Society collects, catalogues, preserves and exhibits artifacts and archival materials that reflect the diverse history of Rockland County and the lower Hudson River valley; sponsors educational programs and publications based on sound scholarship to promote the appreciation of history and the cultural heritage of the people of Rockland; promotes through programs, services and example the preservation, restoration, continuing and adaptive use of the historic buildings and sites in the county; and develops and maintains the financial, professional and human resources necessary to achieve the purposes and goals of the organization.
The five-acre HSRC campus in New City, NY, contains three buildings: the 7,200 square foot History Center, with two museum galleries, administrative offices, a library, and collections storage; the historic ca. 1832 Jacob Blauvelt Farmhouse; and a restored (but unheated) 1,500 square foot, post-and-beam Anglo-Dutch barn, carriage house, and blacksmith’s shop.
