Please join us this summer for a little history -- and a little rock’n’roll.
The history: A historic plaque will be unveiled in honor of the 914 Sound Recording Studios, where some of the most iconic rock anthems of the 1970s were made, including Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” and Janis Ian’s “At Seventeen.”
The rock ’n’ roll: Joe Delia, a keyboardist/composer who has played with Springsteen, Dusty Springfield, David Johansen and many others, will lead a band performing a tribute to 914 Studios. He’ll be joined by Rockland-born guitarist, songwriter and impresario Joe D’Urso and other special guests.
Thanks to the marker and celebration producers and sponsors, who include Brooks Arthur, founder of 914 Sound Recording Studios; Michael Magnone, Robert Brum, Journal News/Lohud.com; and the Historical Society of Rockland County.
More about the marker, which will memorize some of the most influential rock, folk and blues musicians of the 1970s, including Springsteen ("The Boss") and Ian; Dusty Springfield; the Ramones; Blood, Sweat & Tears; and Melanie, is available online at Lohud.org at http://www.lohud.com/story/entertainment/music/2015/06/04/bruce-springsteen-blauvelt-landmark/28432693 and http://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/rockland/2015/05/13/bruces-born-run-born-rockland/27233177,
