Serendipity is defined as the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated. Boys and girls, along with adults, were invited to find their serendipitous moment as they explored two galleries of miniatures, dollhouses, room boxes, and many other treats.
This 34th Annual Holiday Exhibition showcased the work of the miniature artists Sandra Mirque and Susan Farnik, whose room boxes tell a story with every detail and are very appealing to those of us who are young at heart.
We were very proud to have many other talented contributors to this highly anticipated show, including Rockland's own ceramic artists Rosemary Aiello and Cathy McErlean-Goddard; sculptor Ruth Geneslaw; children's book illustrator and author Elizabeth Sayles; quilter Mary Jane Sexton; photographer George Potanovic Jr.; miniaturists Carolyn McErlean, Zsuzsa Neff, Adele Marino (rugs); glass artist Stephanie Maddelena; and mosaic artist Mary Kramer.
The N gauge trains and buildings on display were from the collection of the Reverend Warren R. Brandt. The exhibition alsow showcsaed a detailed small-scale train set by Dunham Studios, which is well-known for creating the fantastic trains and landscapes exhibited at the CitiCorp Building in New York City during the holiday season.
The exhibition was curated by Joanne Potanovic.
