HOURS & DIRECTIONS

The Historical Society's History Center is currently open for administrative business Wednesdays–Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. 

If you have a research interest, you must contact our Senior Historian ([email protected]) in advance to schedule an appointment. 

The History Center galleries are open to the public Wednesdays–Fridays, 12–4 p.m. Our 2024 exhibitions are "'When This You See, Remember Me': Inscribed Quilts of Rockland County" and "Rockland Voices, featuring the Bicentennial Quilts."

The circa 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House is open for tours on Sunday afternoons at 1, 2 & 3 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer house tour guide, information is here: https://www.rocklandhistory.org/page.cfm?page=17.

Directions

From Manhattan or Long Island: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge; stay to the right and take the Palisades Parkway north to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street. At 1.5 miles, you will come to a three-way intersection with a stop sign. The Historical Society's parking lot is the first right after proceeding straight ahead at the stop sign.

From Westchester: Take the Tappan Zee Bridge to the New York State Thruway. Leave the Thruway at Exit 13N (Palisades Parkway). Take the parkway to Exit 11 (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto New Hempstead Road. Travel approximately 1.7 miles on New Hempstead Road to the third traffic light (Main Street). Turn left onto Main Street.
